I remember a few nights that started out crystal clear and then the fog settled in. It's an eerie feeling when you can't see more than 15ft and no landmarks or directional bearings. I usually try to leash up the dogs and head home when it gets that foggy. Haven't had any real foggy nights in the last few years I remember so don't have much input on dogs or coons running.

It got really foggy here Friday night. Put one in a brush pile early, then treed a nice big boar. Left the house at 6:30 and was home by 8:30. The garmin sure made it easy hunting in the fog. I couldn't see half way up the tree by the time we were done.

I was also thinking the trapping doesn't slow down due to foggy nights, so must be your dogs don't like it or something because the coons are still running. Typically foggy nights would mean warmer weather wouldn't they? Maybe that has something to do with it.

we hunted last night and it got to be so foggy we could barely make out the top of the last tree but we had a good turn out we got a triple on the first turn out and then a big oak den on the second but all in all it was a good night

I've been at this game for over 40 yrs and some of the best hunting I've ever had was on foggy nights..I think the reason for this is the tracking conditions are real good on foggy nights...Just this old coonhunters opinion....

Good Morning Everyone,
Its been super foggy here lately (as of now we are at level 2 Fog), and i was kinda leaning towards not running my dogs tonight casue the fog. And i just wanted to ask do you guys still run hounds in the fog? Last night i was driving home and i couldnt see past my hood on my pick up. I was just worried about losing a dog. I dont have a GPS system for them yet i do however have an LED light i clip to their collar but with the fog as thick as its been getting esp at night i dont think they will be of much help. What are your thoughts of runnin dogs in dense fog. Have a great day all.
