Only reason I ask is cause the few times I've brought dogs inside they wouldn't hunt out very far. Maybe 200 yds or so and I just figured they wanted to be close to me. I will agree about them having a good handle.

Most definitely. All my dogs are pets first and coon dogs second. I got a fiest last year for a companion dog and she was even a rescue so.I dunno nothing about her parents and she started treeing squirrels on her own. I'm gonna take her hunting next year and see if she likes coons. All my dogs do hunt close but I like for my dogs to stay within 200_300 yards.
