It's a great book. The two movies are good. The original is the best I think. I read that book so long ago I can't remember what year it was. I wouldn't consider it a training manual. Vickie Lamb's books are by far the best of that type I have ever read.

I LOVE the book and the movie. (the original) part 2 is okay and the new one is too, but they dont even compare to the original. Im 16 and have read the book probably 100 times. My first hound was supposed to be a redbone because of that movie, (I was only three at the time) but my parents could only find a plott female(in our area). Im glad they did though :D Her name was also Little Anne. Sadly she died 2 years ago at age 12 1/2 after she got loose and went on a 3 day and night hunting trip  . She reminded me so much of the female in the book that it was unreal. She was the best coondog that our family ever had. Its amazing how one story can change one's life forever. All I can say is that I would strongly recommend reading and seeing the original movie to someone of any age whether they hunt or not. I own the first and second movies and a tattered old faded book too. ARblackandtans, check on www.Amazon.com for both the movie and the book. Sorry to ramble on but every time someone mentions this book I think of my little ole girl.

My mother made the mistake of reading it to me when I was 6 and now she wonders why I like hounds so much.

Has anybody read The Wahoo Bobcat? It's some good reading about hounds and hunting in the SWAMP COUNTRY.
The ending really makes you wonder !
Thanks for reading, BSM
