My 18 month old bluetick trees coon with easy. The last 3 times I have had him out I find him at holes in the ground barkin and diggin.Is there a coon in these holes or is he runnin trash. If anyone has info please let me know |

In my region of the country a hole in a ground usually means your dog is on an armadillo. |

i live in new mexico and we bay coons in holes every weekend alot of them if it is in the day they will be in there and at night i have ran them in holes also just my two cents |

I had a walker that would do the same thing we ended up gettin curious about it and flushed a fox out of one the holes she was bayed up at. |

Here in NW AL in Feb we treed a lot in the ground. We had a young female walker with us she went in and brought two coons out of the ground on two hunts in a row. They go in the ground a lot around here, especially along creeks and in Feb for some reason. |

I recently read a article about a study done on 100 coons that was tagged. The percent of them that den in holes was just shy of same number of tree dens and a few where counted in rock piles and a couple in barns. Read another article about a guy who hunts ground hog with jack Russell terrier and it showed his daily log of what he brought out of the holes and certain times of the yr he was running more coon then hogs... makes me wonder whats in those dang holes now. here in upstate ny where I live I trap coons all the time in holes we call them rock coon they are a lot blacker than normal they are a lot of rock cliffs an ledges |

If anyone has info please let me know Carry ya a lil shovel and dig it up, or try putting a stick in there and try to get it out. We've had luck using a forked stick and put it in there til ya feel the coon and just start twistin the stick in its fur then ya can pull it right out. |
