Western nc has some great bear hunting if you're in shape and can walk 20-30 miles up terribly ruff mountains and ridges. But if you want one of the big ones you've gotta go to them unless you can find em down low but they'll head straight back up to the ruff stuff once you turn on em.

The dog in my signature has followed some big bear as far as they've gone and about killed me trying to get to him.

In Beauford county were I live has some nice bear. However I got my start hunting in the mountains. I have seen a couple nice bear come out of the mountains. Both bear were around 550 one was killed in Maggie Valley and one was killed in Maidson county near hotsprings. I was in the hunting party but had nothing to do with either kill. This was before I even had bear dogs of my own. Either way they were two nice mountain bears both had good thick coats on them. I have also had some good bear hunts around sylvia nc and Balsom NC. I hear Murphy has some good hunting but I have never hunted there.

Thanks Justin King

No it aint :D it's much more fun on the coast, and you will see alot more bear. I have only had the pleasure of hunting over there twice. I hunt in the mtns. madison county and over next to hot springs, and in Tn, where i am from. as far as hunting in the mtns, w-e-l-l, you either LOVE it, or you HATE IT. :x I think everybody aught to try it once
