i have a 7 month old black an tan pup. He is doing real good on coon. The main thing i want to hunt is coon. But is it possible to get him running coon and coyote. What i mean is it possible to get him to run coyote during the day and conn at night. I dont want him running coyote at night when were running coon.Just curious if it is possible and how likely is it that i can get him to do that.

Yes it is possible, and done all the time. Most hunters run their dogs real hard on yotes all winter, then coon hunt hard all spring summer and fall.

i've seen dogs that make that connection to coyotes only being during the day. not all of them can do it tho and be straight on coon at night...

so it is possible. I was kinda second guessing my self on weither or not i could do it. If starts running yotes at night i could always break him off of them and just keep him on coon

coongetter  you should be fine, i run mine on coon hard right up till they are denned  and coyote season comes  with the snow.  once or twice a winter i end up pulling dogs out of a huge brushpile or hollowed out oak as the coyotes will check them.  this will happen on a very cold track once in a while.  good luck

my buddy has a dog that runs coon and yotes. his dog will switch to yotes with any bit of snow on the ground or if another dog runs one. otherwise does really good staying on one or the other
