In Chptr 1 man was "made in his own likeness" or in other words "in the spirit". This is always how we are closest to God. In Chptr. 2 "he formed Adam from the dust of the earth" or in the earthly form that we know.
Israel was the direct father of the 12 tribes but they can trace their ancestry back to Adam just as ours does.
You are right that we are not jews and most of are Bible was written directly to them rather than us. However after Acts chptr. 13 it is written directly to we gentiles as well as the jews. my .02 Mel
