Been worm free for 12 years until this week. 5 month old pup has shown a roundworm in about every 3-5 stools. Not a lot, just present. I finished up the 3rd day of safeguard powder treatment today. Still noticed a worm in this mornings stool. Does it take a few days to flush these suckers out? Should they appear differently in the stool, darker or such? Just want to make sure my worming was successful.

I know my dosage was correct based on packet directions.

Thanks!

If you just treated this morning the third dose, then you have to give it time to work in the system.............That is why it is treated for 3 days in a row.

Basically, the wormer hasn't even fully run it's course yet at this point. Seeing the worms in the stool today is really on 2 days of treatment since the 3rd worming was done today.

Not uncommon to see dead worms in stool -- not just one time either depending on the infestation.

Thanks Buckshot. Figured it took a few days to run the course. The weird thing is all worms have appeared dead even when I began noticing them a week ago.
