My dog got hit by a car yesterday and he broke the socket the hip fits into. The vet gave pain meds and antibiotics but because of where the break is at it can't be splinted or put in a cast. They said to keep him as immobile as possible. Does anyone know of anything else I can do to help my dog out, he can barely stand up and we have to carry him outside to use the bathroom.

Keep him as still as possible and follow the vet's advice. Did the vet say it will heal?

The vet was gone when we got there but I assume it will heal. The x-ray showed a clean break. mostly he is just taking it easy an laying down unless we take him out to go to the bathroom
