I recently was given a female bluetick that is supposedly a year and a half old. I was told she was run over at 3 months old. Her back legs look a little deformed but she can run and move through the woods pretty good so I'm sure there is nothing that can be done for that now. My biggest concerns are with her not putting on weight and she has some skin condition like a fungus or something. I was told she was allergic to straw but I'm betting she was sleeping in molded hay or straw. Anyone know of the best way to put weight back on her and something to get her skin healthy again? Also, her skin feels warmer than usual. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks for reading.

U can try and give her puppy food. Make sure its a good brand of dog food like science diet, purina pro plan, black gold, etc. My wife works for a vet clinic and says thats whhat she would do or take her to ur vet and see what they say.

I would definitely get her started on some wet food to get her interested in eating. A mixture of wet and dry grain free food is a good start. Tractor supply is a good source for affordable grain free selections. If it turns out to be a fungus you will more than likely fight it forever. But they do sell some products kept in the horse section some will say they are okay for dogs. A vet will blow you out for about 300 bucks and a good chance you will leave with a lighter wallet and no clue what's wrong with your dog.

If her bedding was damp or dirty it could be ringworm or a skin infection but you want to be sure it isn't mange = vet visit. Is she refusing to eat or just not putting on weight? You didn't say. Is she thin enough to see hip bones sticking out or just lean looking?

I don't know about the weight loss part but I do have experience with the straw part. I never knew dogs could be allergic to straw until I got a walker who was. He was horribly allergic. By the time I figured out it was the straw, his skin was beet-red all over and he was scratching so bad that he had open sores. The straw was fresh and dry, so that wasn't the problem.

I would get old carpet for the dog to sleep on.

go to tractor supply get a good wormer.

go to a bread outlet store and buy a bag of old stale bread and add that to her food, that will fatten a dog up.

then in a month if no better see a vet.

at tractor supply get some for the rash.
