I have a 6 YR old dog, excellent hunter and best friend. Been dropping weight and very thirsty and lethargic for a couple weeks. Took her to vet, has lymes disease, and kidneys arent functioning too good. The big problem is her red blood cell count is at 12%, which should be 40-50%. Pltelet count is 4400. should be 4 times that. They want to do a blood transfusion to stabilize her so she can have treatment. I am inclined to give her the meds, antibiotics, etc to try to help, but I think damage to kidneys is not fixable... Just hate to see my lil girl die if I can help it...

Sorry to hear about your 6 yr. old. That is so sad when we loose a member of our family to sickness. I wish I could help you! Good Luck and I'll pray for you and your dog. Garth

The problem with Lyme is that it is curable but the symptoms never go away. I can't speak for they kidneys but I've been told by people that have gotten it that they never feel right again. Sucks the dog is in its prime. Lyme is getting out of control around here. Good Luck!

Thanks everyone. I had to put her down monday because she wasn't eating and just getting weaker and weaker. The kidney damage was done and her body was shutting down. She was a good one.. I miss her every day
