Put him down this is a chronic issue in other breeds, we have an oppurtunity to catch it early.

Take him and get his hips xrayed to be sure...my redbone pup seems to be favoring one side but hasn't stopped him from being coon crazy...he is 8 months so don't know if its growing pains or if he landed on it wrong...plus if you take him to an ofa certified vet you will have that paperwork if you do think about breeding

I've got a redbone about 2 yrs old she's never favored her hip at all. Now all of a sudden she's carrying her foot and don't want to use it she can, but won't and won't rare up on the pin or tree useing her foot it's not her foot or ankle i've checked everything no pain when pushing or squizing on them. Any ideals ,it happened 2 days after hunting and it's been a week? her foot pad is perfect and she hasn't wimpered.

Yes and its fairly inexpensive don't mention the hips or they will want to xray. Just ask to have her tested for lymes, because she has a lame leg. Also in my experience most hounds don't run a fever.

My old hound will be 9 in jan. he has been laid up the better part of this year due to family obligations. i took him out saturday night and he was standing kinda strange and didnt want to hunt with the other dogs as much. when i came home i had to physically drag him out of the dog box and he moped back into his dog house. today when i went down to feed him and put straw in his house i had to drag him out of his house. once i got him out he was trying to stand but it seemed like his back legs werent working. im thinkin his hips have went out or he may have cancer..maybe arthritis, i dont know. anybody else ever experience this and how did it end?

I mean no disrespect to anyone, but why are so many playing vet? There are things we all know to do for certain things, but there's a time to take a hound to the VET! When you don't know, time to go.
When I moved I found a vet and made an appointment. Did not take a hound, just me and Vet and I explained I was a hound hunter and sooner or later I was going to need him. Explained I live on my Veteran's Disability and cost of anything was a factor to me. I can now call and get free advice, and sometimes just go in to get medicine. When I do need an office visit or test done, ect..I pay it out.
If you hound hunt you need to have a vet who's knows you before you have something happens.
