I've got a one year old black and tan and about three months ago while he was running with some older dogs we shot a coon out to them and it got a hold of him and scared him to death. I thought it might have ruined him so I haven't taken him quiet as much. Well Monday night i took him with us and he was raising cane on track and treed with the older female. I leashed him up so he could see the fight and when it fell it came right towards me. While I's trying to get away he was pulling towards it and barking up a storm so I let him go. He chased it about twenty yards and got on it. He fought that coon like a champ even though the old coon was putting up a dang good fight. Sure tickled me and just thought I'd share.

I have a redbone male that is like that. You can,t keep him off of a coon , he is only a little over 3 yrs old but I have yet to see one that he can,t kill I am not sure where his hate for a coon comes from he has been this way from a pup, but he is also the biggest baby at home not aggressive towards other dogs, cats or anything just coon.
