SportDog has unveiled the new Tek 1 GPS + E-Collar Combo System.

Introducing the industry’s first combination remote training and tracking system: The TEK 1.0. For hunters who run hounds for lions, bears or hogs; beagles for rabbits; or pointing dogs for upland birds, the TEK 1.0 provides GPS tracking capabilities in a compact, handheld transceiver. No external antennas required! Get an instant fix on up to 12 dogs’ locations all the way out to 7 miles with just a glance at the backlit liquid crystal display screen.

The TEK 1.0 is available in two formats based on a single, unique transceiver.

Collar-receivers come as separate, compact modules that fit together on a single collar strap. All components feature SportDOG Brand’s DRYTEK design, so they are waterproof and submersible to 25 feet.

Thanks for the info Buckshot.
Not a bad price for a combo package.

Wow.... Thats a good deal for the combo if it performs well. Kinda makes me regret getting the new Garmin. Darn things are like anything else these days though. The second you buy something it is outdated.

I am very interested to hear how the GPS performs compared to the Astro.

Cool looking system though. And its only going to push garmin to keep improving their product which will be a win win for the hunters, regardless of which company makes the best.

yes if it works as good as it looks it should be fine and if it tracks as good as the garmin that will be nice

Hey guys I have been field testing the new TEK for sportdog and I am very impressed. It is very durrable on big hounds and the ecollar is so handy. The one I have is not the finished product so I know improvements will be made. I have not used multiple collars but it has gave the garmin a run for its money. I love that you only have to put one collar on a dog and only have to keep up with one handheld unit. My opionion is sportdog is sure looking bright in the future of hound hunting.

i hear you can't have a topo map in this unit which is a major flaw in the system

the other thing is if you use this tracker you will have to leave the handheld part in the truck when on a comp cast because the transmitter of a e-collar is not allowed in the woods during hunting time

I just got my new TEK 1.0 yesterday. I got the GPS + E-collar system. I put it out in the yard and drove ten miles through some rough country, down backroads and through hardwood bottoms. I only lost signal one time for about 30 seconds and finally just turned around and went home after ten miles showing on the handheld. On the way home my wife went out and held the collar and it was pickin up the vibration signal on the e-collar when I got just inside of two miles. I'm pretty satisfied with the system. I have never owned a garmin so I couldnt tell you the difference between the two. But overall my opinion is its a great system.
