LOL, downfall is if your using one in a comp hunt, your dog can be seen. You may not want the judge to see what your dog is doing. |

I just dont think I would want to see my dog and what he is doing. LOL I dont use them. If I cant see him then I know hes not under my feet. LOL |

theyre expensive and it lets everyone (not just you) know where your dog is... which isnt always a good thing |

A dogs neck also only has so much room on it for a limited number of collars. At the moment I prefer to use it to carry a tracking collar and a shock collar., not much room for anything else. |

I like my lighted collars. But I only use them when Im hunting on my own land or land where I know the people that live around it. That way I know that they are hunting-dog friendly and dont use the dogs as target practice LOL....but they are good if the dogs get onto a road and need to be seen by drivers....I like using mine on my pup because it lets me know how she is hunting....I dont really know of any downfalls, mine werent very expensive compared to some other equipment that is almost a must for hutning...they were $30.00 a piece and are pretty much weather proof. I dont use a shock collar on my dog unless they are having a trash problem so that frees up a space for the lit collar.LOL...buckshot, I wouldnt use my lit collars in a nite hunt period.LOL....there are pros and cons, do what you think.... |

I wear a lighted collar on my dog when I am hunting in smaller blocks of woods my places to hunt are getting less and less every year.I am hunting a young dog and last november he got hit by a car the driver said as soon as he saw the red light comeing accross the road he hit his brakes my dog got his pilves broke in two places but 5 weeks later I was able to start hunting him and i put about 30 coon on him before the season went out. If it wasent for that light he would have been dead. He's a year and a half old now and doing good thanks to that lighted collar. |

I like using lighted collars. I think they help with keeping yotes away. I like being able to see the dog when I'm looking for him. Other than being something else on the dog's neck, I don't think there is a down side....for my use of them anyway. |

I dotn think there is a down side to lighted collars! As for them giving someone a target to shoot at?? How does that person know thats not a man with a flashlight? I dont see that being an issue. They keep the dog safe around homes and roads, keep away coyotes and wolves, help you keep track of where your dog is headed in open terrain. If you're afraid of a judge seeing what your dog is doing..you're hunting the wrong dog and need to get down to the training. I use them and dont see myself ever stopping. I run a shocker, tracker, regular collar, and lighted collar on all my dogs...there's always room for another collar lol. |

I use them also I have not had any problems with them. I would think that no one would shoot at a light thinking it to be human. I could be wrong people are crazy now days. Anyway I only paid 35.00 for mine and if it will lessen the chance of them getting hit by a car then I think it is 35.00 dollars well spent! |

my buddies dog got shot a couple of months back with a lighted color on, its going to court, a young kid shot the dog and said he was just wanting to see if he could hit it. a dog tells you what he is doing with his mouth |
