I use both. But the amber is alot brighter then the red. If you dont have a high voltage light dont waste your money on a red lens. Far as shinning coon its a toss up between the two

Post subject:  why the diffrent color pop lenses

a new hunter was on valley creek and saw they had diffrent color pop lenses for coon lights, was wondering why and what the diffrent colors of lights did im sure they have a purpose

The colored lenses tone down the light and alot of times a coon will look at a colored light faster than a bright, white one. I never figured out why, unless it's just curiosity. I like the amber lenses, personally, but others have luck with red. In varmint hunting, we use red lenses because if you shine a red lensin the eyes of a coyote, the ambient light doesn't seem to spook any others that might be coming in and alot of times you can get two where a big bright light, a loud gunshot and their buddy dropping dead beside them will run the others of a group off.

It dims the light and takes some sharpness away from it and the coon seem to look at it better. Old timers would light a lightered splinter and find him with the glimmer of light coming from it. As for the different colors I think it is the hunters preference.

Post subject:  Green lens question?

I ordered a Valley Creek Pro Cap Light and it came with a green and white lens on it and I was wondering what is the green used for? I heard that red lens are good for foxes because they cant see them. So basically my questionis what are the different colored lens used for?

Different animals (coons, cats, bears, etc.) when treed at night, are often easier to spot using lenses. Depending on the animal, they will look at certain colors allowing you to see the glowing eyes. (Also, in the military we used red lenses because it wouldn't effect our night-vision. So if you are using night-vision when hunting, I'd use the red lens... haha)
