I was thinking the same thing just the other day. How cool would it be to have a line-x'd dog box and tough. At work the back bumpers of our work trucks are steel with diamond plated aluminum strip on top of them. My boss just recently had all the back bumpers of the trucks line-x'd and so far its worked out great. It adheared to both metals great, so I dont think it would hurt to get a dog box done. |

I did the inside of my box, but the stuff wasn't Line-X. If you go to an automotive paint store, you can buy a waterbased product that will spray thru a paint gun and works REALLY good. Line-X will probably nearly double the weight, but if you're not moving the box in and out it won't matter. I'll look at the can when I get home and see what the name of this stuff is- I did the inside of my tool box, the inside of my jon boat, the inside of my dog box, and the racks on my 4 wheeler,and I want to do my rock crawler with it.It's sold by the quart or gallon- I think a quart is about $40., and I did the toolbox, the dog box, and the 4 wheeler with one quart- the boat took a quart itself because I hosed the stuff on thick. If the store sells the stuff, they will probably let you borrow a gun to spray it, and it's just as tough as Line- X, and cleans up with water. |

If I do it to one of my boxes, it will be the LineX route. Just got back from the local LineX shop and saw an example of the aluminum toolbox LineXed and it was pretty nice. The box I am thinking LineXing is in my dog trailer so it never comes out. She said a normal toolbox is $100 and that it shouldn't be much more to do the dog box. |

If you can get it done for $100 I'd go that route and keep my hands clean. The only reason I did mine was that I do body work, so the equipment was handy, and to HAVE all my stuff done would have been about $750. The Line -X (or Rhino linings) place here wants $150 just to do the inside of a toolbox, and the boat was gonna be about $350. |

I LineXed my rocker panels on my truck as I am always on gravel roads and it is standing up A1. Better protection than the best mud flaps out there. |

If you do it make sure you hit the box with a 60 gritt or 80 gritt sandding wheel for a four in grinder, you need to rough the Aluminum up so that it will stick to it. But it works great! It does how ever add alot of weight to it. |

Brad, yes they did the bottom. Only thing not done were the side vents and back vents. LineX on Sparkman Drive did it. Full size box -- $250 I did a heat test I posted on the UKC forum on it: http://forums.ukcdogs.com/showthread.ph ... did=217525 |

I've never heard of linex before but I use a product called herculiner on the inside of my jeep and it is tough stuff. Nice and grippy and the dog doesn't slide around back there anymore. I used it on my rollbars, the whole inside of the tub and my pedals. The stuff is amazing. It helps hold heat and dampens noise quite a bit too. It can be had at Napa, I think 100 bucks for 1 gallon and thats alot of coverage. The boxes look good with the the Linex on it, is it similar to rhino liner? |

LineX is Rhino's competitor.............I have never seen a bad LineX job on any trucks...........can't say the same for Rhino. I am afraid if I did the job myself it would look like I did the job myself.....Too big of a box to mess up on so to speak. It was easy to drop it off and pick it up the next day........I didn't have to sit out in the yard cussing, complaining, getting mad, and etc.. at the mess I was making and the length of time it was taking me......LOL, I spent extra money to avoid the aggravation and time involved. I'd like to get my small truck boxes on both of my trucks down as wll. |
