I am a techy to the core. Just thinking of ways to build my own receiver. Does anyone know the freq s the collars op at. I'm sure I have a ham radio around here to pick it up?

most collars are in the 216.00-218.00 range collar should have freq. engraved on it I tried a hand held scanner from radioshack once it picked up the collars it didn't beep was more like the sound when you tap a microphone had less than half the range of regular tracker I returned it and bought a Wildlife materials system money well spent

Yeah I figured it would be like that. I believe it has to to do with the modulation of the signal. It would be like listening to am radio with the fm modulator on. Yo could here it but not really well. Thanx

Buy a scanner that will receive all modes (lsb,usb,cw) and it will have the beep. These scanners have a circuit in them called BFO that produces the beep sound.
