Guys, there is a new tracking collar on the market called Midnight Tracker -- It's a nice little changeable battery collar. Yall need to check them out.

Image
Note: Bell is not included with collar.

It's lightweight and durable............my understanding from the company is that the collars are even lighter and smaller and now they have beagle collars that are half the size of the one pictured aboved.

The collar puts off a very strong signal and is easy to pinpoint. Had no issues with it around mountains and hollows. To test the signal strength around mountains even further, I ran a test at around 3.2 miles from 1 side of the mountain to the other side (bottom to bottom) and picked up signal just fine where another well known tracking collar had a real faint signal. Now granted this was with leaves off the trees.

No issues with being submerged in water, so hunting around water is not an issue.

I tell you what I don't like about it...........The magnet.......It is a rolled magnet with tape.......I prefer the circle or retangle with plastic housing.........Try accidentily dropping a rolled magnet with tape on the ground around the truck and finding it compared to a orange plastic housed magnet.

That is one thing I hope they improve on is making the collar housing magnet slot be able to take one of the plastic housed magnets.

It takes a full size 3.6 volt lithium AA battery or you can use two 3.6 volt lithium half AA batteries for long range.

For $100, this is a nice little tracking collar. It fit both my coonhounds and bassets neck with no problems...........for beagles, I would recondmend their beagle sized collars.

The collars now have a Tree Switch, Pointing Switch or Dog in Distress Switch .

Buckshot, to help with finding tape wrapped magnets, simply take a bright colored Sharpie marker and paint the tape.
Thanks for the input, i was wondering about these collars for my hounds, but had not heard much on them yet

Cost a lot less than a garmin. What kind of receiver do they use? GPS?

No this is not a GPS collar..........It is a radio collar designed for radio tracking systems.

Here is where you can buy a Midnight Tracking collar:

Buckshot, are these the collars you use on your hounds or does anybody reading this use them? I was looking in to them but I just keep thinking of the saying you get what you pay for. Hopefully Buckshot just pointed out the best deal you'll ever find on new tracking collars. Any input from anyone would be great. Thanks Jerad

My name is David Franklin Jr. My father and I own Midnight Tracker. Every collar is made by him or me. We are actual Coon Hunters and we take pride in our collars. They are comparable to any of the strongest collars you can find. We try to keep them simple, Strong , Durable, and Dependable. Probably have the best customer service you can find:(936) 697-1753 goes directly to my cell phone I will answer all questions and I even answer the phone while im running my own dogs. We don't see any reason to pay $150- $200+ for something that is no better than ours. Our goal is to show up at the comps. and see our collars on the dogs. We love to hunt and fish and make new hunting and fishing buddies. Try us if you dont like the product we will give you your money back.

And to all the Garmin people out there dont get rid of that old telementry system just yet because we know you like fishing too and we have a new product coming soon that you may find very helpful in landing the big one.

Thanks David Franklin (936) 697-1753 http://midnighttracker.net

I just got two of the new 9v collars.....Ordered them on a Thursday and received them on Saturday.

Haven't used them yet but if they are anything like the one I reviewed in the first post, I'll be happy.
