Is it possible to train my walker during the off season without knocking the coon out? As much as I'd love to knock them out all year long, tickets aren't cheap and I dong want go eradicate my coon land! My dog needs to tighten up on his treeing and was just curious if it was possible without rolling the coon.

Should i just praise the hell out of him when he is treeing hard? He has a tendency to tree for awhile and then leave before i can get to him. Thanks a lot!!

That's what I'd do. Maybe tie him at the tree and praise him.

I hunt yr round. We never shoot coon out in the summer. Just because most dogs don't need it. Its more for the owner than the dog. You might have a dog every once in a while than needed coon but most don't... A trick to get a dog to tree harder is to wait to feed them. Get them barking real good like a steady chop. For about 5 min or so before feeding..It can be longer if you don't have nabors..LOL..If hes leaving trees get to them as soon as you can,Garmins are great because they tell you real quick. When a dogs treed so you can get to them quicker..Work him on the tree about 10 min you don't want them to lose interest..Dont get him going crazy just pet him up a little. I know guys that get dogs jumping and going nuts. If you want to hunt the dog with buddys that's not good.

What's not feeding the dog and getting it to bark have to do with barking on tree?

It gets them barking good and steady. Like a solid ringing chop. It does not work all the time. But its best to do it young..I have changed bawl mouth treedogs to chop mouth.. Just to get there mouth better and help weak BARKING treedogs..

Are u serious? And when you're teaching a new command and handing out treats, is that wrong also?

My comment is because would you want your waitress at a restaurant stand back in the kitchen and not bring your food when you should be eating already because you hungry and eat at around tge same time every day.

i would take chets advice, he knows his stuff.
