For most dogs.Its a pup that starts early like 6 months.Looks pretty good until about 16- 18 months old or so. Then they start looking bad kinda fall apart...It can also be a pup that gets hunted too hard at a young age.Then falls apart at 16-18 months old....

just seems to be what happened to my dog. he was a tree dog when i got him. won his first hunt at 8 months with six coon. i hunted him hard since then. now just seems he doesnt even try to smell

What helps some dogs that back slide. Is a long lay off from hunting like 6 months or so....I know one guy that stop hunting his dog for over a year.It helped his dog...I like to take it slow and easy with dogs under a year old..They just seam to turn out so much better in the end when they are finnished out.........
