Well I have a 4 year old redbone female. The past 2 years she has done excellent! But every time i have took her hunting this season she has treed in a den tree. So im not sure if she has just been backtracking or what. So if anybody has ever had this problem and knows how to fix it please let me know.

I dought that she has back tracked every den tree especially if she was doing good before this is the time of year when you will tree alot in den trees and holes and possibly the coons have got smart in the area where you are hunting them if it is low enough den tree smoke them out of it. good luck

Another thing you can try, if you have a garmin, go to the map and watch her track, try to pinpoint as best you can where she struck in at and take her back there and cut her in the other direction. This will help you tell if she's backtracking, but just like foxie said, you're gonna tree on a lot of dens this time of year so don't get too impatient. And if you do, send her my way

Even in november up here in ny with the weird weather we were having some nights you would do great dog would run and tree fine and the next all you would hit was a den tree as everyone else has said this time of year its very common for that but also changes in weather like snow one day then 40 degrees out the next throws them off quite a bit either the coons will come down earlier and be in den trees an hour or so after dark or there running so late you have no track on the ground till well after midnight. Try cutting the dog loose just as its getting dark and try if your willing a couple hours before sunlight and see if you get any diff results.
