I have heard of tieing a half hitch around the dog mid section ... what is a half hitch

its right before you tie a bow in your shoes, thats a half hitch. 2 half hitches is a knot lol. :D

a half hitch around your dog's mid section is,,,,,,you take the leash and after you snap it in collar you run the loose end under his belly, while you hold the leash on top of his back, you pass the loose end up and then in under the part coming from his collar. Let it fit right behind the rib cage. There you have a half hitch and it sorta tightens up on him if he starts pulling. It's not a shoe string which takes 2 ends to tie........ Sorry about that skeets..............2 half hitches is a clove knot.............

ok thanks and i have one more question for you guys..... is my dog to old to train he is a 3 yr old bluetick mixed with a lab .... any tips would be a great help... i have already started training by a couple weeks and he will go appsolutely crazy for a coon put when i release a trapped coon its like he dont know how to find the scent and follow it

you say u have a half blue tick and half lab the one thing u might run into that holds you up is if the dog takes after the lab than the hound because a lab is a retriever and goes by sight instead of scent.just keep turning coon loose on him and he will make something or he wont.you never know until you try

works good for dogs pulling on leash unless you need help up the hills.
