He may have got his tail or foot caught in the door. Have a hotdog weenee or beef jerkey waiting for him each time he gets in the box and he will be glad to go in there in no time at all !!

I have an 11.5 year old Lab that stopped jumping on the tailgate a couple years back to load in the box............I reckon age has alot to do on those old hips. Just something to think about.

did he ever get into a fight in the box with another dog? sounds like he had a bad experience in the box and he doesn't feel safe init any more. I have seen it with dogs and horses that where in vehicle accidents not want togo back in boxes or trailers. like the other guys have said treat him to go in the box. use small chunks of hotdog toss one in there, once he is in there pet him up, take him out of the box then toss another into the box, repeat a few times.
