Is there a way to give a 3 year old more confidence in himself? I have one that will get to himself at long distances, but will go cover a treed dog if he isn't finding something. I didnt mind this until the last hunt i went to he went off and hunted but another dog went back to the old tree. He hunted for 3 minutes alone, then went back to the other dog on the old tree. I have never had him go back to an old tree before. And I hunted him last night with a young female and a pup. He treed about 70 yards from us. Stayed there for about 2 minutes, but the other dogs had kept going. When I went to go to his tree he left his tree and went toward the other dogs. Are there any ways to set up these instances to reward him for sticking to his decision to tree? He has split treed before and help pressure but he was about 500 yards to half a mile from other dogs.

how does he do when he is alone?

and i dont know if this would be good or not but if he isnt working the track and just coming in to the other dog i would get to the tree where the other dog is before he gets there or turn one dog loose and hold him till the other trees and have someone release him about 200 from you and the other dog and when he comes in chase him off and not let him get to the tree. teach him not to back other dogs.

He is a stay put tree dog alone. And sometimes he will hold his tree, last night he held on to his two trees even when one of the pups was boohooing off in hearing distance. Hoping if he gets loved up when he stays he will do it more. Thinking I'm going to give him the coin next time to.

Only thing about that is I'm afraid ige will think he can't have a dog on his tree. So if a dog comes to him he will leave it.

When he comes into another dog treed after he has already started up another track catch him and whoop him good and send him on. Back towards where he came from

He has been hunted alot alone. He got a first last night with 900 plus points. And always held his tree even when one dog left the tree. I whooped him good when he left his tree the last time and maybe that got through to him, I have a new question that I will just put on here do I don't start a new thread. He does babble when I cut him with other dogs but he always shuts up by 30 seconds unless he strikes a track. Last night we got into thick coon and digs were striking with in 20 seconds at each drop. He's 3 years old. Can he be broke of this ? Or should I just let it be? I don't want to ruin him.
