so i have a dog that is about 17 months old and she is doing real good she will hunt and tree real live raccoon's by her self all night long shes been doing this by her self since she was 8 months. The guy i bought her from started her off with his GATOR black and tan. And that b&t tore her butt up on the tree and you can tell. Well i have singled her out for the past 4 months and here recently i have been hunting her with other dogs to gauge her up cause im wanting to comp hunt her. Well she is getting first strike first tree against alot of the dogs but she wont stay treed almost like shes scared to tree with other dogs she will start to tree but when the other dogs get to the tree she is on they jack it from her and she just backs off and stops treeing till shes leashed back. So i know she has been bullied on the tree but is there anything i can do to help her get past this stage in her young life. Or will it come with age. Shes a great pleasure hound but i was wanting to comp hunt her

sounds like its definitely a confidence issue. you might need to back up a little bit. as long as she will still run and tree by herself i would get a cage coon see if she will tree on that or let her tree one by herself. walk another dog up in to her gradually and tie him up so he can only reach one half of the tree so ur female still has somewhere to run to away to from that dog. it helps with a cage coon because dogs get really crazy bc they can see it and you can adjust where you want it in the tree. if she stops treeing let it down and make some noise so she can get all tree happy again.

when you hunt her make sure you are hunting her with a good dog that doesnt normally push and shove at the tree- which will help her realize shes not gunna get attacked for doing what shes supposed to- until she gains a little bit more confidence... hope this helps

I would hunt her with one dog for a little while, preferably a dog thats not going to jump around on the tree too much. Maybe if she starts getting used to a dog and gets to know it she will start treeing with it. After that you can start hunting another one here and there. The key is not to get in a real big rush, cause you don't want her to regress, or turn aggressive.

same opinion here, i would also pull the other dog back off the tree and let the young one up on it. then slowly work toward letting the other dog up on the other side of the tree to tree with her and then to letting them tree side by side. but not all on the same night or the same tree. work her up to it gradually..
