..First thing you have to have a well broke finnished dog to do any good. You need to know every bark your dog makes and what it means... Believe it or not with Most dogs you can tell if they have a coon or not on how they sound on the tree ..Your only hunting in 2 hour hunts. So 3 nights a week 4-5 dumps a night should keep a dog in good shape..Back when I hunted in the hunts.I used to run my dogs 4-7 miles a day behind a quad or mule when I did not hunt that night..Thats a great way to get a dog in shape..

A lot of guys will show dogs just because it helps with the dogs handling...Its also a good way to get kids and the wife or girlfriend involved...Most of the dogs Ive owned or trained over the years. Are broke to stand on the bench at a young age...

First thing have a coondog. Not one that you see 1 out of 5 trees. Others you my classifie as "circle" but simple fact there there you see them 9 outta 10times.

Hunt dog everynte possible 4-7nights is best letting dog be in woods 3 4hrs a nte if you can.

Bench showing and hunting a dog at same time doesn't work very good. Scares and stuff isn't suppose to hurt you but you will find yourself winning more if your dog isn't hunting. Key note in bench showing is muscle tone and body build. I for one put muscles on by hunting them some guys don't hunt n road or tredmill there hounds in shape.

Know your hound in the hunts. You will find yourself beating yourself in the hunts some never understand this some just get to nervous n wound up. I was hunting with my buddy other night in we was calling each others dogs next barks we was crackin up on how many sounded just like them 2 secs later. That's. What you need to know in knowing your dog.
Best thing you can do to learn your dog is find dry dry hunting times in send them in thinnest coon around. You will learn your dog.

Dnt let your dog come into you after so much time. Nothing worse then loseing a hunt over taking strike minus. So many handling things that are small that will cost you in the hunts.
