I keep my 5 month old pup in my front wood room he is a good pup and house broke. my question is my wife has an air freshner that sprays every so often. is this hard on his nose? He seems to pick up on tracks pretty well so hopefully his nose is fine. he has not treed a real raccoon on his own but treed a few I have let out of a cage. my only complaint is he seems to try and run track too fast once he gets headed in a direction he will wanna pick his head up and take off, maybe he will get over this, I would rather see his run a slower more accurate track. any advice? thanks. my post usually gets deleted so hopefully this is a good enough question. I have used the search feature a lot and didn't find this answer

Get the air freshener or the dog out of there! The air freshener could be slowly ruining his nose. Some air fresheners work by numbing your nose so you don't smell unpleasant odors. If you're around them every once in a while, the damage is temporary, but being continuously exposed to them can permanently decrease your sense of smell. Your dog is no different, and if anything, dogs are more sensitive to chemicals than people are. Even if it's the kind of air freshener that simply masks unpleasant odors, it's still not good for his health.

Since I saw this I also got rid of my air freshner but what about Scentys? or candles? I don't want to ruin my dogs nose but we plan on keeping him inside.
