Does a dog seem pic up a track as good or better in the rain? Just wandering if I am messing up not going when it rains or after it rains. I wanted to go bad tonight but it was raining a little and because I work out of town I seldom get to hunt during the week, and being that I work out of town when I get home I tend to wanna spend time with my year old little boy and wife! Man it sounds kinda girlish but I really enjoy coon hunting and want the best for my dogs. I have a 8 month old puppy that could care less about a coon except when I turn it out of a trap then he runs after it. Doesn't tree and when I shoot it out he lays at the base of the tree and doesn't pay it no mind. Just venting a little I guess!!!

water holds scent to stuff. which is y when its real dry out and all thats on the ground is leaves dogs sometimes have a hard time. so coonin in the rain=HUNTING OPPORTUNITIES!!! when you gets like flooding rain tho is when it can wash scent away. it can wash scent down the tree tho. so always go huntin the worst thing that can happen is your dog wont be able to smell nothin. weve always had good luck in rain so... and keep rememberin what a dog feels like when the coon is dead at the bottom of a tree. good boy lets go get another one. its like a lil kid trying to play with a toy with dead batteries. let him fight a couple half dead coon hell turn on just keep huntin and good luck:) btw he will tree if a coon goes up a tree/sapling u can shake and the dog can see. just throwing some of my knowledge out there

Went Tonight and the woods looked like the great lakes jk!!!,but it was full of water! My puppy left and went hunting with the older dog but nether said a word. Could this be because of all the water?
And do you notice any difference in your dogs tracking ability? I know my bluetick female really seems like she is quicker to drive a track in a soft drizzle, my black and tan ain't much different working in the rain. What is some of yalls thoughts and opinions on this subject.
