Well my pup just turned 6 months old today and figured it's about time he started learning something. I've shown him 4 caged coon and a couple drags but can't get him interested. He'll run around and want to play the entire time and not pay any attention to the coon except sniff it a little after we let the older dogs kill. How do I get him more interested?

Dont show him anymore coons. Start taking him hunting by himself. By hunting, i dont mean expecting to tree coons. Walk him in the woods and let him pillfer around. Take him to places he might run up on a squirrel or coon. This isnt going to burn him out like carrying him with old dogs. It will be like playing more than hunting. It will pr

A cage coon should be the very last thing you try. Before giving up on a dog.Thats at 11-12 months old or older..How they re-act to cage coon has nothing to do. If they make a coonhound or not.But if over done or to early can mess up some dogs...Its best to let them mature they start when they are ready..For most thats at 8-12 months old......
