Five months is a little young in my opinion, but thats up to you and how mature you think your pup is. Do a search on this forum and you will find all kinds of info on starting and training pups !

Yeah that will help when it gets time to start hunting your pup. I cant say yes show the coon to your pup or not because that depends on the puppy, and without knowing it I cant really say. I showed my male a coon at four months (and yes I know now that is a little too early) but it was because of his maturity and his personality. I wouldnt recommend that for every dog because they are all different. Such as, we have a 14 month old that we have just recently started working with and thats because of her maturity level and personality. That is going to have to be up to you and your understanding of and relationship with your pup.

first introduce your pup to a live a coon. not alone though, get the older bluetick and go in an open field and turn that small coon loose and see what the dogs do. then wait a couple months and do it again. but dont start at 5 months i would wait until about 7 months first. and then let a fesh cages coon loose in the woods with an experienced dog and let him see a coon get treed then shot out. on several occasions. good luck .
