I have a 2 year old female walker that would rather tree a possum than a coon.Took her out last night treed a possum so i turned the shocker on 5 and let her have it.After that she didnt want to hunt anymore.I have switched her, wooped her, shocked her but during the summer i never have this problem with her.

a dog has to be able to make the connection with the behavior and the correction...

Our coons are pretty thin around here anyway and the possums are thick.Where there are coons you cant get to because everything is posted or gated off.My female has never ran a deer so ive never had to shock her on one but i have her trained on tone to come in with the shocker. So when i shock her she thinks she needs to come in.I think i have her so confused she dont know what to do.Its probably time to take the shocker off and just let her hunt.

She has treed coons by herself but if she comes across a hot possum first that is what she will tree.Probably will take her out tonight and try it again and see what happens.

I know some guys that had this problem they caught a possum let the dogs sniff it and bark at it..then they put gas on the possum lit it on fire turn the possum loose from the trap and let the dogs go to him...they will get close to the possum and they feel the heat..(also if you try this be sure to do it in a open field with short cut grass so it does not catch the grass on fire and so he does not run into some woods) they did this just one time and the dog has never ran or treed a possum again
