im looking to get a smaller gun bigger than .22lr but smaller than .223 for crow hunting, close range coyotes, bobcat, things like that. im just stuck between a 22 mag and a .17. i know theres a few different kinds of .17s like hmr and fireball i think and i dont know much of either kind. just seeing what anybody thinks. ive got a .243 for reaching out farther but i dont want to tear up hides that bad if i dont need to when i could use something smaller for close up coyotes. im thinking accuracy and knock em down power but nothing out very far past probably 75-150 yards. and id probably use it more for crows and smaller animals more than yotes anyway. im leaning twoards the .22 mag just seeing what reasons anybody else would sway one way or the other.

thanks

Well mines a hr handi rifle, I bought it for just that shooting yotes it's short and handles easy inside the truck. I use 32gr hornadays they ruin the pelt. But I think there's other loads besides the ballistic tip. It will put 4 outta 5 in a beer bottle cap at 100 yards. It's the most accurate rifle I ever shot. Packs enough punch to bring down a deer too, i mean if it was legal to shoot them ;)
