I have to share this story with you folks. This is how NOT to deal with your local Dealer.
Some guy called me up last week out of the blue. wanted a Military issue 1911 shipped and transferred from a relative to himself. I said OK, I can do it. THis is how I want it done: It must come from a FFL dealer, no exceptions. He assured me that the guy was an FFL holder. I said OK, send i along.
I get it today Actually, I was out, my dad, who helps me out signed for it. it did NOT come from another dealer, but a person. No ID, no nothing in the box except for an email. OK, I am not happy about this. Sender did not follow instructions. I then open the inner box, and unwrap he bubble wrap and what do I see? A Remington Rand 1911 handgun. With a magazine in it. And the freakin hammer cocked!!! I was and am still p*ssed as anything. It was unloaded but I don't care. I am not happy.
I will have to cool down even more before I call this schmuck because I have a good mind to give it to the Nashua PD.
What I am going to do is get a copy of a photo ID of the sender either by FAX, Mail or email before anything else is done.
THis is one reason why dealers don't want to do transfers.
