I have recently happened upon a Stevens Model 200 chambered in 7mm-08. I have heard that this rifles are nothing but a Savage 110 with Stevens printed on the side of the bolt.

I have been thinking about doing a small build on this rifle(being as i have little to nothing in it) Something along th lines of a Douglass barrel, Timney trigger, B&C stock.

Wondering if you had done any work on either a Savage or one of these. Also curious as to what(if any) obstacles i may run into with this build.

Basically, from everything I know about them, The Stevens 200 is pretty much a no frills, no accu-trigger version of the Savage 110. the aftermarket parts should for the most part, drop right in with maybe minor fitting in the stock. I hanv't worked on a moden savage or stevens (most of my work is on shotguns) but I would say it can't be that much worse that working on anything else. Just use good punches and good screwdrivers that fit the screws snug and properly. otherwise you'll bugger them up good. Work carefully and you should be OK. I'd leave the barrel work with somebody with a lathe and the correct headspace guides. you might also want to look at the hart barrel, too. They are pretty good.

good luck!

I took a Stevens 200 in 22/250 and rebarreled with an A&B heavy barrel, added a rifle basix trigger set to 16 oz,and a B&C stock. It shoots 1/2 inch groups all day at 100 yards.I'm planning on getting a laminate stock from savage for it because I hate synthetic stocks.
