why dont you just tie the metal handle on all five gallon bucks to the fence or t-post. Thats how all 15 of my hounds drink n never have prob. Need to brake ice put piece of pipe over t post and you got a ice breaker at all times. LOL
I use 40 gallon sheep tanks and I put them at the outside of the chain. That lets the dog pace the circle without wrapping the chain around the water, and because the tanks are oval keeps more than half of the tank out of reach of the dog. That comes in real handy when you need to drop a tank heater. The dog can't reach the cord or heating element.
for food i use those horse feeding bowls those black ones work great you cant break them lol as for water i use 3 gallon bucks screwed to the side of the dog house but off the ground so you can just turn it to dump out bad water as for the winter time i just bring up warm water for them and put it in there food dishes they eat and drink at the same time works very well for me thanks adam
a simple way to make spill proof water bowls is to get a 10 gallon tub from lowes then get a 3 gal bucket . after you have your buckets get you a 80# bag of quicreteput the 3 gallon bucket in the 10 gallon tub upside cover with concrete . next day when dry flip it over, you now have a concrete wate bowl a they dont tip over.
I always take the thin galvanized feed dishes with a lip in them and put them inside of an old tire w/o a rim. The lip sits right on the bead so it makes it hard for the dogs to claw at it and get it out, especially if the dish is full. Used to always have dogs tipping their water dishes over until I started doing this.
a 5 gallon bucket fits rite into a milk crate i screw my milk crate to the floor or wire it to the wall and set you a bucket into the crate doge cant turn them over at all

Tractor supply sells 3 sided 2 gallon buckets in the horse section. I just attach a clip and clip onto the fence. There easy to fill up and empty and seem to hold just the right amount.
