Here are some pictures of my 7 year old Priefert kennels that I spent $1500 on. I would like to sell if I only could. ImageImageImageImageImage

Since I work in retail I have learned one of the most important things you can do when making a large purchase is hang on to your receipt. With that receipt you can verify where you bought it and WHEN you bought it.

Most (*most*) quality manufacturers will take care of their customers. I have found that when we send back a product as defective to the manufacturer they will honor that and take care of us--even when the product isn't really defective it's just that the customer broke it or didn't take care of it. I have had customers return $20.00 heated dog bowls as defective after successful use for 7 years and the manufacturer STILL takes care of us.

Another thing that is helpful is to contact the manufacturer when the product starts going bad as opposed to waiting until it is absolutely destroyed. A certain percentage of products from EVERY manufacturer turn out to be defective; this is not because the manufacturer intentionally turns out poor merchandise it's simply because all merchandise is made on a line and sometimes there is a bad batch of steel, or whatever.

Have you contacted and discussed this with the store you purchased it at (non-confrontentially), have you contacted priefert? If you're respectful about the problem and work with them towards a solution then often things work out and both of you will be satisfied in the result.

Priefert is a high quality manufacturer. We sell priefert and have had far fewer problems than with other manufacturers. Contact them and discuss the situation respectfully and the results may (may) be better than you thought they'd be.

I did talk to prefert and this is what they offerd me. I have attached a copy of our warranty and a warranty request form for the items your having issues with. The items in questions are well out of our warranty but we are willing to help you in getting these replaced at 38% off of our retail price and you would be responsible for the freight in getting them shipped to you. The replacement kennels are now made out of galvanized tubing which will prevent rust like associated with the black tubing we once used. At 38% off this should be a fair enough trade out for the damaged kennels that are around 7 years old. Let me know if this is agreed upon and I can get the figures to you on the replacements. I would be better off scraping them and getting new ones.

Those type of kennels at Tractor Supply rust out in less than a year.
