I tried using the rubber horse mat in one of my kennels. At first it worked out just fine. I could spray it off and i added a drain on the back to flush everything away. After a couple of weeks i noticed the young prospect I had in there couldnt walk on the driveway and after looking at his feet I pulled the matts out. His feet were so raw it hurt him to stand on anything that wasnt smooth. Not a good way to toughen up your dogs feet. I spent another week or so doctoring his feet and then built a TC above ground 8ft by 16 ft and he has been much happier.

I just put pallets down for a floor in my kennels yesterday. it works good...just make sure the spacing isn't too far apart. some of my pallets were kind of rough so I sanded them down with a belt sander first. it was defiantly cheaper than building something.

I did the same thing just last week...but my floor is 18 ft by 12 ft. Pallets and painted plywood...works great...just set the 3 dog kennel on top its too heavy for the dogs to move but I will probably screw it to the floor.

Above ground kennels are the only way to go. Dirt floor sucks, to muddy and very unhealthy. Straw holds parasites and stinks when it's left in for a while. Concrete gets to hot in the summer and have to pressure was it constantly. Above ground is the way to go.
