How would I put a trap out in the woods? Do I need anything on top or around it?

Depends, are u setting a live trap for coons? or a leg trap?

For a live trap we put a rock on the top of the cage so they can't flip it over, and we put rocks up around the side of the cage so they can't reach in to the trap and pull out the bait.

we use sardines, or chicken bones, that's what seems to work the best!
