Live trap? Usually the coons that have been trapped before are tricky. I had one steal my bait for a week. Put up a camera to watch him. Ended up putting a second trigger pan in. Old lady I trapped him for was really happy to get him out of her attic.

Some of them are just that smart and they aren't going in that trap. Try covering the trigger and the whole bottom of you cage with leaves and grass to hide the bottom grill. Use coon scent or something else to cover your scent. Wire the cage to something like a fence post or barbed wire. Throw an old towel or feed sack over the top. Bait up heavy inside and outside the trap. The smarter ones are usually around where lots of people have been - barns, fishing areas. Good luck.
