I need some help getting rid of some nuciance beaver and from what i hear trapping is the best way. I don't know enough about them to even know where to start, i am just a coon and deer hunter but never done any trapping. The thing is they are on some property i have about 90 acres and now have about 5-6 acres flooded, im getting tired of trying to tear down the dam to keep flooding down. Any advice of how i can get rid of them is much appreciated.

Your best bet is to go to trapperman.com and look through the arcives for the info you need

But there not hard to catch what you will need is

some No 4 traps (I like the 4 coiled Dukes About 12 dollars here)

Some wire or cable ( The wire used to brace Trees works good) just make sure its strong and will hold good

A weight (A cinder block works good or a couple railroad tie plates)

1 of thouse corner braces from the hardware store the L shaped ones

a bottal of bever lure (1 with a caster base works best for me)

Now for some prep work

Spray paint the traps Flat black or brown

cut your wire to a length so that it can reach into at least 3 feet of water 7 or 8 feet usally works ok and then place the corner bracket on it and form the ends into a loop now wire 1 end to the weight and the other end to a wooden stake a section of straight sapling 1 inch or so by 18 inches long will work (if you have a soft bottom make the stake longer)

Now wire your trap to the other end of your corner brace (an S hook works but you can use some thick wire if you wish) now your ready for the fun part

Find where the beaver are coming and going from the water to cut wood ect Its easy to tell as I am sure you know if you have looked over the area and place your trap in about 3 to 4 inches of water slightly off center in the trail and stake it down and chuck your weight into deep water and then place your lure on the bank about 18in or so beyound your trap (Just stick a pencil sized stick into the bottol and stick it in the ground)

If you go to trapperman you can look at photos and diagrams of sets that will show you what you need to know or you can ask for help from a trapper in your area to come in and do it for you but anyway good luck

Set your trap directly in front of culverts or put them in dried up creekbeds around the flooded area!!!! My fishin buddy from church has been catchin them for many years this way, he jus caught his 300th or 400th, beaver the other day! Down in my area you can cary the beaver tails to the courthouse and they will give you 10 bucks a piece for them!

if pipe threw clogging up is out in water towares there about 7in before bottom. Then ive found it very easy to trap with a 330 conibear body hold trap you can dig dirt back and set trap in opening at night when they hear the water running again there go over there to clog it and you have your self a beaver. Note you may want to have sumbody show you how to set them they could be very dangerous might even break your wrist if gets you in right spot. You might also find sumbody that alread traps beaver in theyd probably do it for you. Thats how i trap all mine from people wanting them out like yourself. Also if you have a nice rifle sitied dead on and a very good shot go down there couple nights right before dark for about 30mins a night you should be able to get one or two like that.

me and my uncle have located a beaver lodge and dam on a river the beavers are definatley there there is a slide on the damwhere we have a foothold and a drowning wire, and we have made a castor mound on the bank where they were chewing aspens we also have a baited conibear underneath the ice. there is between an inch of ice and 1/4 inches of ice so its not safe to walk on the traps have been there 3 weeks and nothing have we scared the beaver out? i didnt think beavers would leave the lodge w\ith an iced over river because they would have to leave there feedpiles but is this possible? what should we do?
