i have a 1998 toyota tacoma but its four wheel drive and that joker will go anywhere. they are really tough trucks. the only bad thing about those trucks is that you pay for what you get, mine is a 98 with 169 thousand miles and its worth 4600. so for a '02 you would probably be loookin at about 8000 maybe 7 ifits in good shape. but they are really good huntin trucks.

Toyotas are the toughest trucks out there. I drove a 96 tacoma 4x4 4cyilinder. Had about 110,000mi on it and 170,000 when sold, never had a single problem with it. I drove it with street tires threw mud boggin trails with pure mud pits and it never got stuck lol

They can be pricy as coondealer93 said, but your paying for a nice truck. My suggestion though, DO NOT GET A 2wd if your going to be doing off-roading, plus, you'll always regret not having the 4x4. just my opinion

Not sure what your budget is but I know they can be quite pricey, I think if it were me i'd look for something a little older with 4x4, even the toyotas from the 80's are still running strong.

Gotta warn you. Once you get a Toyota nothing else will do. I have owned Toyota's since I was 16. Still have my first. Its an 87 4x4. Still going strong. I wouldn't hesitate to drive across the us with it. I had a 2000 Tacoma That I totaled. And currently own an 02 Tacoma. Great trucks. 4x4 definitely. Just remember four wheel drive is for emergency only. LOL who am I kidding I was 16 once. LOL

i had a 91 toyota 4runner we cut the back end off of and but big tires on it and a small flat bed welded a makeshift dog box to it and it doubled as off road and hunting truck,

but i recomend a standerd tranny, we went through 3 trannys with the auto, and y i say that is i was 16 and beat the tar out of it in the woods... and we all say we will take care of it till the night that big puddle is tawnting you...lol
