I have a 97 half ton Z71 and I love it. got all the power I need, I can pull a stock trailer w/ it, plus it's decent on gas mileage. I get close to 17 mpg. I haven't had any trouble w/ mine. A good chevy, if you can take care of it, can last you for a long, long time.

( ie 351 Windsor engines) i'm fairly sure all "american" automotive companies have been outsourcing to china and japan since the mid 70's. I can also remember UAW making a stand about that within the last few years. (less than ten) I ain't a big ford fan but I am driving one. I like chevy's better but I'm basing that on the late 50's to mid 70's When u could swap parts off most any small block chevy and put em on any other small block chevy. Fact is you could soup up a chevy motor using factory parts off another motor. Like when chevy built that 302 in the late 60's it was a 327 with a 283 crankshaft. larger bore and shorter strock and they built revs quick that way. My younger brother built a 350 small block that was stock parts exept for the intake and exhaust manifold, that'd pull the front end off the ground in second gear.
Yes, they have, Parkers. I was just pointing out that Both Ford and GM have been building vehicles on boths sides of the border, hey Included.

My Point is that everyone haa preference and any vehicle can be a dog, including the "Sainted" Honda and Toyota. In my younger days, I had a Supra that blew oil pumps every 12,000 miles.

my old man had an 88 Chevy that had 288,000 when it finally killed over.
It dont matter what brand you're driving it'll prolly give ya problems one way or another.
And if you wanna American made vehicle buy a Honda or a Toyota. They are more american made than any of the big three.

The truck that i have decided i want is the '98 and is a very clean truck(much better than the other one i was looking at) everything works well on it but the only fault to this truck is it has 197000 miles on it for $2500, is this a good deal???

Believe it or not, Blue book is $3400, but I'd still try to talk the guy down to $2250

Ya thats a pretty good deal I use to have a 89' chevy 1/4 ton 4x4 that ran up to 260,000 miles and the only problem I ever had was with the 4x4 1 time and the frame rusted pretty bad cuz i never washed it...It was a good truck still when i junked it but the starter went bad and i didn't wanna spend anymore money on it.. Now I have a sweet 87' chevy 1/4 ton 4x4 5.7 V8 350 99,000 miles no rust and a 4 inch suspension lift American racing rims and 35's!!! Most of the parts on it are aftermarket and less than a year old its pretty sweet.
