Anyone on her have a lifted Dakota?
We havnt seen many of them around. other than being a gas hog our
97 Dakota w the 318 is holding up quite well. Now we put 33 in tires which is max for the gear ratio, pushes them jus fine, but the next thing we are gonna do is swap out the gears.
Jus wondering ifn anyone else has one?

I put a 5" lift and 35" boggers on a friend's Durango. It had 3.55 gears and turned the tires quite well- too well, in fact- in mud, it did fine, but he took it to Tellico, and the first time the front tires got in a bind and he "bumped" the throttle, the front end exploded. That was the first time I've actually seen a ring gear come THRU a differential cover.
I helped another friend swap in a Dana 44 front end and GM 12 bolt rear with 4.10 gears into his R/T Dakota. His started out as 2 wheel drive, which are alot easier to do axle swaps on. The 360 mill in that small truck with that gear spins 38" swampers pretty well.

ditch the IFS if you wanna do any serious lifting.
when i had my 99 dakota lift kits where 1500 for 5 inchs
you can do alot better for the same amount of money with a solid axle swap and throwing a 14 bolt or dana 60 in the rear
