Is it possible to take a 350 chevy motor out of a 79 chevy and install it into an 89 chevy (new body style) as is or do you have to do something else to it? Any advice on how this works would be appreciated. Thank you.[/color]

yes you can. but unless the 79 has been converted, it's gonna be carbureted. it's a pretty involved process to convert from carb to TPI (i'm guessing that's what you have now). you will need to replace everything from the intake manifold up. the manifold should be replaced with an 85-86 as it is a direct bolt-up (GM changed the 4 inner bolt angles in '87). also, you'll need an electric high pressure fuel pump, high pressure fuel lines, a return line to the tank, and you'll have to get a chip burned to your engines specs.

heads and water pump(because u got a forward and reverse flow) also if u run a surpeen belt and make sure ur fan is the right pitch i just done it from a 80 to 89 gmc 350 and had to get a fuel pump block off plate. i wish i stuck with the carb set up hate all the electrical BS
