I've had a 1988 f150 2 heel drive for several years. They are tough trucks. Things to watch out for, Key switches(I installed a push button), alternators burn out a lot, windsheild wiper motor, my manual transmission leaks a little fluid, valve covers are bad to leak and check the rear main for leaks also. My nephew owns a 88 ford4 wheel drive he's had some of the same problems I have had but his ole truck is going son of bi#@!!

on a 302.. check for oil pressure and or rod bearing noise.. they are bad for rod bearings going bad.. esp. if they have over 90000 miles... good luck..

we have a 89 2wheel drive 150 at work with 420000 miles on it and not much has ever been done to it but it has been serviced and looked at on a regular time between 3 and 5 thousand miles.
