Is anyone else in Iowa having a tough time finding the coon. We have been out proably 15 times this season and have yet to see anything. Last year was a different story. 2 to 3 a night. Maybe its the drought I dont know. I know my hound knows what he is looking for but he just can not find it and we are both getting frustrated.

I think finding the coon has been hard the last couple of years. Prolly a combo of things. The trapping seasons been long with the nice winters. price are up some, maybe the drought but im sure we had more coon just before season. They seem to have died off and im only treeing singles, mostly bore. Average 3 a night and the best night so far way 7.

Hunting has been tougher, usually get a few when we go out, but tracks are tough and dogs seem to have to cover more ground to get struck in. Question....do any of you see kitten coon when your'e out hunting? I have only shot big coon, and don't even see any sitting up on the field edges like normal. Usually when you tree a sow she may have one or two with, but not this year. I don't know what happened to them, but they're not around.

I haven't seen any small coon yet med to big here in Ohio. Had good luck over the weekend but none of the tracks where too short. Dogs have been moving tracks slow all yr.

Haven't hunted alot but have treed coons every night out, I usually tree 1 or 2 and go home, but like some said not seeing the young coons, mainly large boars(But my hound has always treed 8-9 out of 10 boar coons), treed one kitten, and not seeing them sitting up either but don't look to hard for them, We have had the best near water that didn't dry up this summer..
