That's the fun of it ... Keep at it just let him train his self take him to the coon tracks and let him figure it out and be patient with him all you got to do is show him what he is suppose to run !! Its bred into them by traits

I started the same way , had no clue what I was doing my pappaw started me , I would call him and call he would always tell me the samethings you read about on these training sites just take them to the woods and really that's what you have to do !!! Let them figure it out by being in the timber !! Good luck with him

If she is a pup I would let her be a pup I started mine like this .... I waited till he got big enough to mess with(9) months I got me a coon that we killed the night before , I put him in the barn never let him see it . the I made a drag and pulled it into a tree then I turned him out on it when he got started on it I got him fired up on it and he treed it ... Then I kept him on the chain a few weeks later and got another dog to bark at one and let him see me petting that other dog up real good and cut him loose .. He got over there and barked at it I petted him up good and put him up ... Then I started hunting him a few times and put him I'm a lot of coons ... Then you just hunt them evertime we treed or the old dogs treed I would take the coons and make a drag from that tree and always left it up in a tree till the pup couldn't see it that way he knows where they stay ... Its not how fast they start its how they finish all dogs are different and they all don't make it ... You just gotta have fun doing it and have a fist full of patients

I'm just below Athens, TN and looking for any other hunters within an hour from here that like to hunt. I don't have any places to hunt around here, all my spots are down near GA so I'd like to find someone to go with who is a bit closer. I don't drink or use drugs, just stay high on hunting!! Let me know if you wanna hunt.

Sounds good. I haven't been since season closed so I really need to get them back out in the woods. I have about a 2yr old female bluetick that was doing pretty good but haven't hunted with her much. Also have a 9 month female bluetick that's only been out a couple times. If you got some places to hunt not too far from Athens that would be great!!
