I live an hour north of Salt Lake City and I really want to get into coon hunting. I have a deposit down on a dog that I'll be picking up in July, and I have enthusiasm. What I don't have is a clue about what I'm doing. If anyone out there would let me tag along on a coon hunt or two, or be willing to teach me a thing or two, I would really appreciate it, even just pointing me in the right direction would be great. I'd like some basic knowledge before I pick up my pup so I can train him right and hopefully have some measure of success. Thanks in advance.

Why are you waiting until july for your pup? You gave someone money before you got the dog? I hope it was someone you know well. I'll take you hunting if you want to drive a ways. I'm in Vernal. Good luck with the pup.

sorry for the late reply, I had a surgery recently and haven't been online much during recovery. Anyway, yes I gave someone money before I got a dog, a reputable breeder, pretty standard practice with all of the breeders I looked at before deciding who to go with. I'm getting a black mouth cur, it will be eight weeks old the first week of July, so I'm driving to pick it up then. I'm willing to drive a ways to tag along. Hoss Hunter I sent you a PM. I found a copy of Walk With Wick upon recommendation from some fine folks, hopefully it will be of some help.
