 Post subject: copper black n tan???

a guy showed me a pic of his black n tan, and it looked like a redbone to me. does black n tans come out copper colored sometimes or what? thx

Some of those old high tan black and tans can look fairly red sometimes.

Its a gut up in West Virginia that has a line of purebreed black and tan's that come out chocolate colored

WELL; A picture is worth a thousand words (an old saying) The Web Page shows good looking dogs; BUT; They are not products of old line purebred B&Ts

This Hidden gene that is being kept alive and reproduced would have came from an outside source.

When Breeding dogs, there are traits that breed true; if you want another trait, it has to be brought in from outside. A trait can't be created from what's there to start with.

A B&T hound without an added trait will be b&t colored.

Yes once in a great while a pup will come along that is redish brown or chocolate with tan trim and blue eye's. It's just a freak thing and you are not supposed to reg. them. Dovermans come in that color and they are called red dovermans. I had one in alitter once and have seen several over the years. There pure b&t just lack pigment.

Tell ya wat I have never seen a chocolate/red colored black and tan but those are pretty neat lookin in my opinion. I would buy one lol

I know the guy that raises these... Don Rexrode. He's got some beautiful dogs that make good tree dogs. I ain't got one yet, but I hope to some day...

That choclate n tan guy has some beautyfull dogs id like to have one does anyone know if that is like albino n only one in thousands r that way without breeding 2 of them and does anyone know if that guy is still breeding them the web site said no pups for sale
